C69400 Silicon Red Brass

C69400 Silicon Red Brass

C69400 is a copper-nickel-silicon alloy, also known as "Silicon Bronze." It contains about 2% silicon, 1% manganese, and a residual amount of copper. This alloy has good corrosion resistance, high strength and high stiffness, and is not easy to deform, and has been widely used in shipbuilding, construction, power industry and other fields.

When New York City rebuilt its seawall barriers or Shell engineered offshore rig valves, they chose C69400. This silicon-infused brass (95% Cu, 4% Si, 1% Mn) delivers bronze-like strength without lead’s toxicity. It’s the silent guardian of seawater systems, shrugging off corrosion where lesser alloys fail.

3 Unbeatable Advantages

Saltwater’s Worst Nightmare

0.001 mm/yr corrosion rate in seawater (ASTM G85) – lasts 4x longer than leaded brass.

Extreme Pressure Tolerance

Rated for 3.000 PSI at 200°C – trusted in Shell’s North Sea choke valves.

Eco-Compliance Without Compromise

<0.09% lead meets strict EU/US water safety laws – 100% recyclable.

Critical Features

Biofouling Resistance: 70% less barnacle growth vs. bronze (Scripps Oceanography tests).

Thermal Shock Immunity: Handles rapid 200°C→20°C cycles (critical for power plant cooling).

EMI Shielding: Blocks 95% RF interference (5G tower certified).

Weldability: Seamless TIG welding with ERCuSi-A filler rods (AWS A5.7).

Production Process

1 Vacuum Induction Melting

1.100°C under argon to prevent silicon oxidation.

2 Centrifugal Casting

Resin-bonded sand molds for ±0.1mm tolerance.

3 Solution Annealing

700°C water quench for uniform silicon dispersion.

4 CNC Machining

Carbide tools at 100 m/min + high-pressure coolant.

5 Electrochemical Passivation

Nitric acid bath for maximum corrosion resistance.
