C27200 Yellow Brass '63.5%' (CDA 272)

C27200 Yellow Brass '63.5%' (CDA 272)

C27200 Yellow Brass is a high zinc brass alloy containing about 65% copper and 35% zinc. With its good mechanical properties, workability and corrosion resistance, it is widely used in the manufacture of pipe fittings, valves, Musical Instruments, decorative parts and other industrial products. It is the most widely used brass alloy.

When Kohler crafts reliable faucet valves or Leviton stamps electrical terminals, they turn to C27200. This 63.5% copper brass (Cu-Zn alloy) delivers unbeatable machinability for high-volume production. It’s the unsung hero in 50 million household fixtures yearly – balancing performance, cost, and corrosion resistance where premium alloys can’t compete.

3 Dominant Advantages

Machining Speed King

80% machinability rating cuts tool wear by 40% vs. C26000 – produces 300+ parts/hour on CNC lathes.

Cost Efficiency Champion

15% lower material cost than C26000 – saves $12k per ton for high-volume stamping.

Balanced Conductivity

27% IACS conductivity + corrosion resistance – ideal for electrical components in humid environments.

Critical Features

Low Friction: Self-lubricating for valve stems and bearing sleeves.

Stress Corrosion Resistance: Withstands ammonia-free environments (ASTM G58 compliant).

Aesthetic Versatility: Polishes to mirror finish or accepts plating (Ni, Cr, Sn).

Recyclability: 100% scrap reuse without property degradation.

Production Process

1 Continuous Casting

1.000°C melt → vertical casting for grain refinement.

2 Hot Rolling

700°C reduction to 3mm thickness (±0.05mm tolerance).

3 Cold Rolling

Hard temper achieved with 50% thickness reduction.

4 Annealing

450°C for soft temper (grain size ASTM 6.0).

5 Precision Slitting

Laser-guided cutting to ±0.1mm width tolerance.
